¡Bienvenidos a Nuestro Blog!

Hello to everyone currently reading this, and to those that aren’t but who soon will be, an even louder hello!

My name is Valeria Ortiz and I am a current junior studying International Relations, with minors in Latin American Studies and Cultural Diplomacy.

I am originally from Arizona, but my family hails from Colombia, donde viven los parceros.

I am LSA’s Director of News Media and am also a tour guide at the USC Admission Center.

Now, I know what you’re thinking… Valeria, you’re just using this blog talk about yourself!

To which I say… good catch.

The REAL reason I’m writing this is to formally introduce you all to LSA’s blog!

*cue the hoopla*

The purpose of this space is for us as an org to talk, cry, yell, and just rant about important issues in the Latinx community, whether it be here at USC, within Los Angeles, or around the world.

Rather than just talk AT you all, we want this to be a collaborative space where we get to talk WITH y’all, meaning that I won’t be the only one to be writing pieces for the blog- all of our LSA members will have a chance to talk about issues surrounding their own lives and identities, or anything else that they are deeply passionate about.

Thank you all for reading and for being open to this new form of discussion. If any of y’all have any questions, comments or concerns, or would like to write a piece for our blog, please do not hesitate to email me at ortizv@usc.edu or DM me on IG @viva.valeria (shameless plug).

You- yes, you- are the reason why LSA is as great as it is. Help us make it greater.

¡Feliz lectura!

Con mucho amor,

Vale 🙂
